Annalis Venter from Cape Town makes and frames these paper cutouts. This project is flexible in terms of both time and money, depending on the design and frame you choose.
You will need
• picture frame in the size of your choice
• paper to fit the frame
• craft knife
• pencil
• ruler
• cutting mat
To make
1 Trace the size of your frame onto a piece of paper.
2 Draw your chosen design within the traced frame. NOTE If your design includes letters or words, keep in mind that what you draw in the frame will appear as a mirror image.
3 Cut out your design carefully with a sharp craft knife.
4 Trim the paper to fit the frame.
5 Create a background for your design by cutting paper to the size of the frame. NOTE A simple background works best if your design is busy.
6 Place the cutout and background in the frame.
Good idea
Be creative with your choice of paper. Use wrapping paper, pages from books, old photos and so on.
