Embellish the ends of a plain table runner with delicate lace doilies. Cut the fabric for the table runner to the required length and include seam and hem allowances.
Place the doily on the fabric and use a dressmaker’s pencil to trace only the outline onto the fabric. Cut inside the outline then remove the fabric and zigzag-stitch to finish the raw edge. Place the doily in the cutout and tack it into position.
Machine-stitch the doily into place, working the stitching on the doily’s outer edge.
Repeat to decorate the table runner’s other end. Fold in the seam and hem allowances along the table runner’s sides and stitch into place to complete.
