Finish your gift off with a special tag or element, giving it that personal touch and handmade-with-love feeling.
You need
• a silhouette of the New York skyline
• 4 x A3 sheets of cream 120gsm paper (make sure it will go through your printer or copier)
• sketchbooks or notebooks (any size you’d like)
• scissors
• spray glue
• photocopier or printer
To make
1 Make four copies of the silhouette on the cream paper and use to cover the sketchbooks. Each image should be in a slightly different position so when you stack the books next to each other you will see a complete skyline. If you prefer, rub a cloth or eraser over the image to give it a weathered look. TIP Spray a little hair spray on the skyline image to make sure the ink doesn’t rub off.
Packaging
You need
• ink stamps (available from most stationers)
• cut-out frame
• ribbon
• twine
• vintage buttons
• sketch pencil
Sew the buttons to the ribbon. Stamp your loved one’s name onto the front of each book. Tie the books in a bundle using the frame, twine, pencil and ribbon. TIP You can also cover the gift in wax paper or tracing paper.
