Let your child help you make this delightful doll. We have given you the basic outlines so there’s plenty of scope for creativity colouring in the various areas with fabric paint or fabric crayons. It’s a fantastic gift to make for children’s parties.
You will need
• 50 x 50cm white cotton fabric
• template (see below)
• tracing paper
• pencil
• Pentel Art Gel Roller for Fabric, in black
• fabric paints or fabric crayons of your choice
• paint brush
• white sewing thread
• polyester stuffing
To make
1 Enlarge the doll template to size and trace onto the white cotton fabric. Cut out a front and back piece. Using the fabric pen, trace over the solid outlines carefully. Leave for the ink to dry.
2 Using fabric paint or crayons, colour in the doll carefully. Leave for the paint to dry. Turn the finished painted pattern pieces over to the back and press with a dry iron on the correct setting to heat-set the paint.
3 With the right sides of the doll together, machine-stitch around the outer edge, leaving an opening of about 10cm for turning. Clip the seams frequently around the curved edge.
4 Turn the doll to the right side through the opening. Stuff firmly with polyester stuffing, using a knitting needle or other pointed instrument to push the stuffing into the smaller areas. Close the opening with neat hand stitches.
