These are two replacement patterns for the deckchair and cushion crochet projects that we featured in our September issue. We inadvertently printed two incorrect test patterns last month and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Crochet a flower square
You will need
• 4-18 different colours in double knit 100% cotton
• 3,5mm crochet hook.
To make Using colour A, chain 3.
Round 1 (inside of flower): Work 15 trebles into 3rd chain from the hook. Join with a slip stitch to the 3rd chain. Fasten off.
Round 2 (petals of flower): Insert the hook between 2 trebles and join colour B to round 1.
Chain 3.
Work 3 trebles in same space as the join. * Skip the next 2 trebles from round 1 and work a group of 4 trebles into the next space *. Repeat from * to * until you have 8 groups of 4 trebles each. Join with a slip stitch to the 3rd chain made that started round 2. Fasten off.
Round 3 (square): Insert hook in the space between 2 petals and join colour C to round 2. Chain 3. Work 2 half trebles and 1 treble into the same space as the join. * (3 trebles, 2 double trebles, 3 trebles) into the next space between petals to form the corner. (1 treble, 2 half trebles, 1 treble) into the next space between petals.* Repeat from * to * 2 more times. In the last space between 2 petals work (3 trebles, 2 double trebles, 3 trebles). Join with a slip stitch to the 3rd chain made that started round 3. Fasten off.
Round 4: Using colour D, join in the back loop of the second double treble on any one of the 4 corners. Double crochet into the same space. * 1 double crochet into the back loop of each of the next 11 stitches. Double crochet in the next stitch. * Repeat from * to * 3 times more, replacing the last double crochet with a slip stitch into the 1st double crochet of round 4. Fasten off.
Weave in all loose ends.
To join the motifs Crochet 119 flower squares. Arrange them in a rectangle of 7 x 17 squares. Working in rows, crochet the squares together working loose slip stitches into the back of the stitches of round 4 of adjacent squares.

Crochet a round cushion Size 40cm diameter
You will need
4-18 different colours in double knit 100% cotton
3,5mm crochet hook
Abbreviation dc – double crochet
Front panel Using colour A, chain 2.
Round 1: Work 8 double crochets into 2nd chain from the hook. Join with a slip stitch to the 2nd chain. Fasten off.
Round 2: Insert needle into any double crochet from round 1 and join colour B to round 1. Double crochet into same space as join. 2dc into every dc of round 1. Join with a slip stitch to 1st dc of round 2. Fasten off.
Round 3: Insert needle into any dc from round 2 and join colour C to round 2. Dc into same space as join. * 2dc, 1dc, 1dc * (repeat from * to * to complete round 3) Join with a slip stitch to 1st dc of round 3. Fasten off.
Round 4: Insert needle into any dc from round 3 and join colour D to round 3. Dc into same space as join. * 2dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc * (repeat from * to * to complete round 4). Join with a slip stitch to 1st dc of round 4. Fasten off.
Round 5: Insert needle into any dc from round 4 and join colour E to round 4. Dc into same space as join. * 2dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc * (repeat from * to * to complete round 5). Join with a slip stitch to 1st dc of round 5. Fasten off.
Round 6: Insert needle into any dc from round 5 and join colour F to round 5. Dc into same space as join. * 2dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc * (repeat from * to * to complete round 6) Join with a slip stitch to 1st dc of round 6. Fasten off.
Round 7: Insert needle into any dc from round 6 and join colour G to round 6. Dc into same space as join. * 2dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc * (repeat from * to * to complete round 7) Join with a slip stitch to 1st dc of round 7. Fasten off.
Round 8 – 28: Follow the same pattern, adding 1dc extra to every row, before you start repeating with a 2dc. Remember to change colour for every round.
Round 29 – 37: 1dc into every dc from previous round. Join with a slip stitch to the 1st dc of the round. Remember to change colour for every round.
Back panel Repeat the pattern for the front of the cushion, but in one colour only.
Scalloped edge Join colour A to any dc of round 37. Dc into same space as join. * Skip 2dc and work 7 trebles into next dc. Skip 2dc and slip stitch into next dc. Slip stitch into next dc.* Repeat from * to * until the scallop goes right around the edge of the front panel. Join front and back panels by sewing together corresponding double crochets from the front and back panels, leaving an opening to insert the cushion inner. Insert the cushion inner. Sew gap closed. Weave in loose ends.
