Coasters

These fake-porcelain coasters look like the real thing.

You will need
flower-shaped cookie cutter
smaller round cookie cutter
kebab stick matt spray varnish

To make

1 Use the cookie cutter to cut out flowers from the rolled-out dough.

2 Sprinkle a little corn flour on the flowers and use your finger to smooth the surface.

3 Use the smaller round cookie cutter to impress a slight circle in the centre of the flower.

4 Use a kebab stick to make small holes all around the edges of the petals and around the circle. You can also create a flower pattern in the middle, if you prefer.

5 Allow the coasters to dry completely. Spray them with a few layers of matt varnish to seal them. We used Krylon Clear Coat Sealant Spray which is ideal for porcelain clay. The clay will disintegrate if it gets too wet, so seal it as thoroughly as possible and use the coasters mainly for decorative purposes.
