Woman’s month brings with it a host of activities and inspired by this the focus for the next Culinary Innovations evening on Friday 31 August at the historic Grande Roche Hotel in Paarl is on inspiring women. A voyage of discovery and powerful words are matched with Creation wines and complemented by Chef Roland’s delicious menu- a combination that adds up to a memorable evening.
Nancy Richards, much loved presenter of the popular SAFM show OTHERWISE: Talking Women,
recently walked The Camino de Santiago de Compostela in Spain. With walking buddy, Odette Halliford, they embarked on this “pilgrimage” to raise funds for the embattled Saartjie Baartman Centre for Abused Women in Manenberg.
The Camino or The Way as it’s known in English is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Compostela means field of stars, because the route follows The Milky Way. Walking a part of the French route – starting in Leon, they took two weeks to walk the 320 kms to Santiago.
Nancy will be telling the story of this inspirational journey in her wonderfully informal presentation, Women on The Way and, while we sip delicious Creation wines and take our taste buds on a journey, she’ll reveal why The Way attracts thousands of “pilgrims” from all walks of life throughout the year.
Date: Friday 31 August
Time: from 7pm
Cost: R365 per person (includes wine) A portion of the proceeds will be going to the Saartjie Baartman Centre.
